Product Description

The Secret Service can’t control him. The British government can’t silence him. But renegade agent Travis Caine is one loose cannon you don’t want to mess with, so his commanders cut him a break—and cut him loose. His new HQ is America’s top intelligence force, Elite Ops. His new code name is “Black Jack.” And his new assignment is to die for.

She’s smart, sexy, scintillating—and one of Elite Ops’ savviest agents. Lillian Belle’s code name is “Night Hawk,” and Travis certainly wouldn’t mind flying a few midnight maneuvers with her. But when their mission turns into a red-hot game of danger, deceit, and double-crossed signals, Travis begins to wonder: Can he trust her? Can he resist her?

1 out of 5 stars Same Plot She's Trotted Out For The Last Couple Books...   July 13, 2010
Zeek (Lancaster, PA USA)
Wow- this is the first Lora Leigh book I couldn't work up the enthusiasm to finish. The hero and heroine were boring and lacking in chemistry- my usual "go to" to hold up a "same old, same old" plot she's trotted out too many times before... and vice versa for that matter.

Sorry to say- Don't Bother.

5 out of 5 stars Black Jack   June 30, 2010

Night Hawk is a dead woman. Trained and lethal, she is a member of the Elite Ops - a group of highly specialized soldiers known only to their trainers. Lilli Belle, the debutante no longer exists. Lilli's current mission is to deliver a disk to one of the male members of her team, Travis Caine, code name: Black Jack. One look from Travis, however, makes Lilli almost forget her mission before she can do what she is supposed to do. Once the disk is in Black Jack's hands, Lilli and Travis do what they have been craving to do all night - they love each other quickly, forcefully, and completely. Afterwards, Lilli reluctantly prepares to leave for her home base - she and Travis depart but they know they will meet again. Fate, however, sometimes plays its hand quite hatefully and so this is the last time that Travis will know Night Hawk as the woman she was when she left because a sniper's bullet almost ends her life, but Lilli is a fighter who refuses to go down.

Lilli Belle is now considered a danger to herself and the members of the highly secretive Elite Ops. The only person who refuses to give up on her is Travis Caine. Travis knows that underneath Lilli's amnesia is the truth of what happened to her the night her father died and while he is supposed to report anything out of the ordinary about Night Hawk, Travis refuses to allow the woman he loves to be collateral damage no matter how much danger she brings upon herself. Black Jack refuses to let his Night Hawk down - and it is his persistence and love that brings the woman known as Lilli back from the brink of danger.

Lora Leigh's Elite Ops series continues to intrigue and surprise me. Black Jack is no different. It is highly suspenseful, attention grabbing, and pulls you into the plot. Travis Caine is no ordinary soldier, he is a highly trained killer. But he is also a forceful, yet gentle lover. Lilli's treatment at Travis' hands was erotic and satisfying to read.

Fast-paced action, sneaky killers, and unconditional love are the name of the game in Lora Leigh's Black Jack. My life would be complete if only I could find a Travis Caine of my own because trying to nab Night Hawk's man might get me in trouble...

3 out of 5 stars Elite? Not quite   June 10, 2010
Sacramento Book Review (Sacramento, CA)
Author Lora Leigh writes compelling, red-hot romance, which makes this particular novel a puzzle. //Black Jack// could have been an incredible story. All of the major components were present: a strong, yet feminine heroine; an equally strong, yet giving Alpha male lead; an intriguing plot-line, fast-paced action; and yet, the result is very disappointing.

When her father is murdered before her eyes, socialite Victoria Lillian Harrington is given a choice: join the Elite Ops as a sniper or die. Quickly immersed in her new life, Lillian "Night Hawk" turns her back on her family and heritage to become one of the best agents. When a loss of memory forces her back into her old life, she can only turn to fellow Elite Ops agent Travis Caine "Black Jack" for help.

Small annoyances detract from the overall story. Constant repetition of the word "died" complete with quotes, indicating the main character left their old life to be immersed in a new life, proved to be insanely annoying, not dissimilar to chewing on tin foil. A decent book, but not great.

3 out of 5 stars Not that great...   May 13, 2010

Lily "died" and became an elite agent known as "Nighthawk." When an attempt on her life results in memory loss and a return to her family (with a significant re-design in her looks), she finds herself drawn to Travis Caine, another elite agent she has worked with in the past. Her family should be celebrating her return to the living, instead they are thinking of shipping her off to an asylum because of her erratic behavior. Meanwhile Travis needs to make sher that her memories do not result in trouble for the mission or he must terminate her. The only problem? He is in love with her.

I wanted to love this book after reading some of her earleir stuff in the series, but this book is so lacking in so many ways. There was plenty of passion, but a recycled storyline, mixed with way too many uninteresting red herrings, a last minute baddie, and a lack of chemistry between the protagonists make this a middle of the road storyline.
