The book presents a delightful array of simple, stylish projects that can be made with just a single yard of fabric - from apparel to accessories, from plush toys to pet beds, from baby items to bags, and from home decor to "Happy Birthday" banners. Projects have a hip, contemporary flair, and most can be completed in a few hours. For each project, the book provides a full-color photograph, easy step-by-step instructions, and simple illustrations. Templates and pattern pieces are also included wherever needed, making this collection of 101 projects the best sewing deal ever.

3 out of 5 stars Cute ideas, no pictures in instructions :(   July 26, 2010
Brittany Leonard (Henderson, NV United States)
I've tagged quite a few projects that I want to make and finally made one tonight. The problem is, there are no pictures to help explain the instructions. I was able to make the bag based on the picture of the finished project but couldn't really follow what was written.
Lots of reviews on here note that they're projects for beginners but I'd be wary...

5 out of 5 stars Definite Keeper   July 25, 2010

I'm always taking on a new craft or project and as a result I'm always receiving books like this with crafts or projects on them. Some are much better than others. But when I got into this book I thought there may just be to many projects I want to do. It's great there is something for everyone. Many are even quick easy projects.

3 out of 5 stars Not what I thought it would be   July 5, 2010

Great projects but instructions are lacking. More photos depicting the steps of each project would make this so much better.

5 out of 5 stars Not for an "accomplished" sewer! But great for others.   July 4, 2010
E. Knapp (Seattle, WA)
The word "accomplished" is misleading in the description, but the book is still enjoyable for a beginner sewer. I enjoy making quilts, but didn't have any experience with other things. After sewing a tote, I decided I needed a simple book to help me broaden my horizons, which is where I was at when I bought this.

This book has nice patterns for simple projects. Sometimes the directions can be a little unclear and require reading over a few times with a logical mind, but overall they are comprehensible. Please note there are not step by step pictures for the patterns! I would've wanted someone to tell me

Something I like to do is follow the pattern, but make my own renditions of them. It is extremely easy to do--adding pockets to purses, changing the sizes of the car bag, etc. The patterns can be modified without any trouble.

I give it four stars based on the lack of clarity in some directions and from the lack of photo help, which I really prefer. I would recommend this book to a moderate to beginner sewer.

4 out of 5 stars Fun projects to sew with your kids!   July 3, 2010

My son wanted to sew with me. He's 6, so the simplicity of the projects is appealing. There are a lot to choose from. It does seem to be targeted towards someone who has kids to sew for, and in my case, sew with.

I wish there was a few extra pockets to store the cut out pattern pieces on the off chance we make some of the items, again.

There is an error on the kite pattern. The instructions tell you to cut out 2 of the main kite pieces, but the sewing instructions only refer to sewing one. If you cut out two pieces, the single yard doesn't leave enough for the bag.
